Tour de France

The Rugged Rides 9/26/2020

We've just come back from the rugged roads of France. It was almost 2400km offroad from the Alps near Mont Blanc to the Atlantic ocean. Most of the route led through a bit modified TET. What can I say? France charmed me again. It's still the number one country on my private list when it comes to the beauty of what the human hand has created there, but when it comes to landscapes, it's also a top notch! Following out track you will see five completely different landscapes, starting with Alps with high passes and marmots, then picturesque ravines hollowed for thousands of years in white limestone, then dried wilderness full of lavender and vines, finally drive into the wet park of Cevennes and end up in the Pyrenees among sheeps with sight at the ocean :-)

There were some sections directly on the TET so demanding, that I wouldn't like to have a big adventure bike beneath me under any circumstances :-), others were even more difficult but I added them as the bonus by myself :-) There were also those, especially closer to the Pyrenees, where the asphalt has spread into too many roads, which certainly used to be good gravels :-)

It was hot, sometimes close to 40stC! It was very dry, only the biggest rivers still had water flowing through. There were lots of loose stones, big and small! We rode a lot, literally from dawn to dusk! French people are very positive, and really do not speak English :-) But they have their own beautiful language and a great cuisine. It is empty, full of landscapes completely unpopulated and riding off the asphalt is fully legal. We had probably the best night under the stars ever, in the Pyrenees. It was a good trip :-)
